How to turn on missed-call text-back on Jobber, JobNimbus & more

A missed call you text back in 30 seconds is a lead you keep. Here's where that setting actually lives in the platforms home service businesses use, and what to do when it isn't built in.

Every platform in home services markets itself as "all-in-one," but missed-call text-back, automatically texting a caller the moment they hit voicemail, is one of the features they handle very differently. Some do it natively, some bolt it on through an add-on, and some don't do it at all. Here's the honest state of each, plus the fallback that works everywhere.

The two pieces you need

No matter the platform, missed-call text-back needs two things:

If a platform gives you both, you're set. If it only gives you one, you'll pair it with a tool that fills the gap.

Jobber

Jobber's strength is quoting, scheduling, and invoicing, not conversational texting. It offers client SMS reminders and two-way texting on higher tiers, but a true "missed call auto-text" trigger isn't a native, out-of-the-box workflow. Most Jobber users route their business line through a dedicated texting/CRM layer for the text-back, then let Jobber keep doing the job management it's good at.

JobNimbus

Popular with roofers and exteriors, JobNimbus has strong automation and texting inside the platform, and its integrations (and the Engage add-on) can cover call handling. Whether missed-call text-back is one toggle or a small automation you build depends on your plan, check under Automations and your phone/communications settings first, and confirm your number is SMS-enabled.

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro includes customer texting and reminders, and its call-tracking / "missed call" features have grown. If you use their phone product, look in the communications or call settings for an auto-response to unanswered calls. If you keep your existing number elsewhere, you'll likely still want a texting layer in front of it.

ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan is built for larger shops and has strong call handling and marketing tools, including automated texting. Missed-call follow-up is achievable, but it typically lives inside their phone/marketing modules and is configured as part of a broader setup rather than a single switch. If you're on ServiceTitan, your admin or success manager can point you to the exact workflow.

GoHighLevel (and CRM-first setups)

This is the category that does missed-call text-back most directly. In GoHighLevel, it's a standard workflow: trigger on Call Status = Missed, then send an SMS. You get separate hours-based messages, two-way replies in one inbox, and the opportunity created automatically. It's the approach we build on for clients because the text-back, booking, and follow-up all live in one place.

The universal fallback

If your core software doesn't do missed-call text-back cleanly, don't fight it. Put a texting-capable number (through a CRM like GoHighLevel, or a Twilio-based flow) in front of your business line, build the missed-call trigger there, and keep using your existing software for jobs and invoicing. The two talk to each other, and you stop losing callers.

Before you flip it on: register for A2P

Whatever platform you land on, business texting in the US has to be registered through A2P 10DLC or your messages get filtered out, often silently. Do this first or your shiny new text-back won't actually reach anyone. We walk through it in the A2P 10DLC guide.

Then write copy that converts

A text-back that says "we missed your call, we'll call you back" wastes the moment. Give one clear next step, a booking link, and keep it short. There are paste-ready templates in the Speed-to-Lead Playbook.
